March 19, 2019 - U.S. Congressman Aidan Smith (Neb) recently introduced two bipartisan measures designed to increase access to rural health care. One of the measures – the Critical Access Hospital Relief Act – will repeal Medicare’s 96-hour rule, while the other – the Physician Assistant Direct Payment Act – will allow physician assistants to be directly compensated through Medicare.
March 5, 2019 - Due to public concerns around the accuracy of Hospital Star Ratings, CMS has proposed changes that would result in more precise ratings and help patients compare hospitals more closely. A major part of the update includes dividing hospitals into peer groups to ensure that small, rural hospitals aren’t compared to large, academic institutions.
